Plans and billing
What the Free and Pro plans include, how the free trial works, and how to upgrade or cancel.
Ultrathink has two plans: Free and Pro. This page explains what each one gives you, how the free trial works and how to manage your subscription in Settings > Billing.

Free: your entries as you wrote them
On the Free plan there is no AI tidy-up. Everything you save is kept exactly as you wrote it, and the detail panel says AI tidy-up is part of Pro. Once Pro starts, trial included, the entries you saved on Free are tidied up by themselves, within the daily AI allowance.
Pro: nothing to set up
On Pro, the AI is included, with no key to add. Settings > Integrations shows the AI tidy-up as Included.
Pro comes with a generous daily AI allowance for fair use, far more than a busy day of saving needs. The allowance has a spending limit as well as a number of uses, so a day of very long entries or very large searches can reach it sooner. If you go past it, everything you save is still kept, and the AI catches up the next day.
Seeing your AI usage
Settings > AI usage shows how much of the allowance you have used:

An AI pass is one entry tidied up, one AI search or one Ask. Autocorrect and the reasons given for similar entries count towards the spend, not the passes. The page reads your usage when you open it; the refresh button beside Today reads it again.
Your plan belongs to your organisation
Every account belongs to an organisation, and the plan is set for the organisation. If you signed up on your own, the organisation is just you. If you joined with an invite code, you share the organisation’s plan with everyone in it.
Only an organisation’s Owner or an Admin can start a trial, upgrade or change the subscription. See Account and organisation for roles.
The free trial
You can try Pro free for 30 days. The trial does not start on its own: you start it when you are ready, and you do not need a card.
Start the trial
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Under Your plan, click Start free trial (30 days).
Your plan changes to Pro straight away, with a Trial, N days left label. The help line under it says the date the trial ends.
When the trial ends
- If you added a payment method, Pro carries on and you are charged £9.99 a month.
- If you did not, your organisation goes back to the Free plan by itself. Nothing is deleted.
Each organisation can have one free trial.
Upgrading to Pro
During a trial:
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Click Add payment method. Stripe opens straight on adding a card.
- Add your card.
Billing then shows Card added. Pro carries on after the date your trial ends, at £9.99 a month unless you cancel before then.
After a trial, or if you have already used it:
- Go to Settings > Billing.
- Click Upgrade to Pro.
- Complete the Stripe checkout.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Ultrathink never sees or stores your card details.
Managing your subscription
On Pro, Settings > Billing shows the date your subscription renews, and a Manage subscription button.
Click Manage subscription to open the Stripe billing portal. There you can:
- change your card;
- see and download your invoices;
- cancel your subscription.
Cancelling
Cancel from the Stripe billing portal. Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, then your organisation moves to the Free plan. Your entries stay where they are.
On Free, the Pro-only parts stop working: the AI tidy-up of new entries, AI search, API and MCP access, and the Pro settings. Entries the AI has already tidied keep their titles, summaries and topics.
Payment problems
If a payment fails, Settings > Billing shows a Payment past due notice. Click Manage subscription and update your payment method to keep using Pro.
The plan list in Settings
Settings > Billing also lists the two plans side by side under Plans, with Current plan against yours. The table at the top of this page is the full, up-to-date list of what each plan includes.
